Dimensions, distances, and angles are now dynamically displayed as you move your mouse over and between objects in a design when you click the Measure tool in the ribbon.
All neighboring measurements, both inside and outside the nearest geometry, are displayed by the cursor. Of course, the other command choices for explicitly measuring distance, radius, angle, area, and volume remain accessible.
With the new quick measure option, you may quickly check distances and angles within a 2D drawing. While the dark tone and measure adjustments are mostly cosmetic, the improvements to how users input blocks are substantial. This is the biggest change to the way blocks work since Autodesk introduced the block gallery in the edition.
The new Blocks palette makes it incredibly easy to choose and insert any block at any location, scale, or rotation angle, regardless of whether the block was defined in the current drawing or another drawing. Either of these options brings up the Blocks palette. The Blocks palette is divided into three tabs. The Current tab shows all of the block definitions in the active drawing. The Recent tab displays the blocks that were most recently inserted.
And the Other Drawing tab allows you to quickly access to any folder, from which you can select drawings to insert as blocks or blocks defined in drawings. The drawings you choose in the Other Drawing tab are saved across drawings and sessions. Simply click a block in the palette to insert it. Insertion settings like as insertion location, scale, and rotation angle are controlled via controls in the lower area of the palette. Selecting Repeat Placement allows you to easily insert many instances of the same block.
Furthermore, because it is a palette, it can be anchored, docked, floated, resized, and so on, making it easily accessible whenever you need to insert a block. The new Blocks palette makes inserting blocks easier than ever, even if they are defined in another drawing. Purge has also been reworked to make drawing cleanup easier. While the options are largely identical, the design and arrangement of the Purge dialog are completely new and provide much better feedback.
You can now, for example, see purgeable or non-purgeable objects with a resizable preview area. In the Named Items Not Used panel, check boxes allow you to choose purgeable items by category or by individual item. You can now purge zero-length geometry without purging empty text objects as well.
The ability to view non-purgeable things with a single click is the most significant change. The new design gives expanded information for objects that cannot be purged, such as better explanations for why items cannot be purged, how many times a non-purgeable item has been used, what levels those items are on, and their impact on file size. Furthermore, with a non-purgeable item chosen, you can swiftly zoom to those things by clicking a Select Objects button.
Those things are also selected in the drawing, making it easy to make changes. You could, for example, update the characteristics of the selected non-purgeable objects to relocate them to a separate layer, allowing you to then purge the layer on which they were previously put.
